Assam State Sports Award 2026 – Applications Invited

The Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam has invited applications for the Assam State Sports Award 2026. The award aims to recognize outstanding sportspersons, para-sportspersons, coaches, and physical instructors who are permanent residents of Assam and have made significant contributions to sports promotion and excellence at National and International levels.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The awards will be presented under the following categories:

1. Sportsperson of the Year
2. Para-Sportsperson of the Year
3. Coach of the Year
4. Physical Instructor of the Year
5. Promising Sportsperson of the Year

Note: Two individuals will be selected and awarded annually under both the Coach of the Year and Physical Instructor of the Year categories.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

• Must be a permanent resident of Assam.
• The sportsperson should not have been punished, suspended, or penalized for any doping violation (enhancing drugs)
• No criminal case should be registered against the nominee.
• Achievements in Olympic, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Indigenous Games, and Para Sports will be considered.

CATEGORY-WISE ELIGIBILITY

Sportsperson of the Year

• Must have performed exceptionally well in National or International competitions during the last 3 years.
• Should display good leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Para-Sportsperson of the Year

• Must have achieved outstanding results in National or International competitions during the last 3 years.
• Should have excellent discipline and sportsman spirit.

Coach of the Year

• Must have trained athletes who won medals at National or International competitions in the last 3 years.
• Should have actively contributed to the development and promotion of sports.

Physical Instructor of the Year

• Must have a good attendance record certified by the District Sports Officer.
• Should have helped produce National or International-level sportspersons.
• Must have contributed to creating a positive sports environment.

Promising Sportsperson of the Year

• The player must have won a medal during their first appearance in a National or International sports event.
• Should show dedication, motivation, and good sportsmanlike behaviour.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Applicants need to submit the following documents:

• ID Card issued by Employer (for Govt./Semi-Govt./Private/Others)
• Voter ID Card
• Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC)
• Medal-winning Certificates issued by concerned Federations/Associations (for sportspersons)
• Mobile Number

HOW TO APPLY

• Prepare the application along with all required documents.
• Ensure eligibility criteria are fulfilled.
• Submit the application through the concerned District Sports Officer.
• Applications must reach the office on or before 13 July 2026.

• Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible.
• Applications with incomplete documents may be rejected.
• National and International achievements will be considered.
• Sportspersons with pending doping cases are not eligible.
• The applicant must not have any ongoing doping case or any previous punishment for using banned drugs in sports competitions.
• Submit applications through the concerned District Sports Officer before the deadline.
