Assam SC & OBC Scholarship 2026-27: Apply Online for Pre-Matric & Post-Matric Scholarship
The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has invited online applications for various Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students for the academic year 2026-27. Eligible students can submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES AVAILABLE
For Scheduled Caste (SC) Students
- Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (Class IX & X) [Component-I]
- Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students of Parents/Guardians Engaged in Unclean Occupation (Class I to X) [Component-II]
- Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students
For Other Backward Classes (OBC) Students
- Pre-Matric Scholarship to OBC Students (Class IX & X)
- Post-Matric Scholarship to OBC Students
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
A. For Pre-Matric & Post-Matric Scholarship for SC & OBC Students
1. Caste Certificate
- Only SC and OBC community students are eligible.
- Caste Certificate issued by the Office of the District Commissioner of the respective district is accepted.
2. Annual Family Income
- Annual income of parents/guardians from all sources should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum.
- Income Certificate must be obtained from the Circle Officer of the respective Revenue Circle.
3. Bonafide Certificate
- Bonafide Certificate from the Head of the Institution is mandatory.
B.For Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students of Parents/Guardians Engaged in Unclean Occupation (Class I to X)
- No income ceiling is applicable
- Certificate regarding engagement in unclean occupation must be obtained from the District Social Welfare Office, Local Body, Civic Agency, or other authority designated by the State Government.
- Bonafide Certificate from the educational institution is required.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION FOR APPLICANTS
- Applicants must register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) using the NSP OTR App available on the Google Play Store
- Face authentication is mandatory for generating the One Time Registration (OTR) Number during Registration.
- Aadhaar and mobile number linked with Aadhaar are required for OTR generation.
- Applicants should furnish only those bank account details that remain active, as scholarship payments will be made through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The authority will not be responsible for any payment failure arising from inactive or incorrect bank account details.
- Bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded.
- The above conditions apply to both Fresh and Renewal applicants.

HOW TO APPLY
Eligible SC and OBC students can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- Before submitting the scholarship application, applicants must generate a One Time Registration (OTR) Number by registering through the NSP OTR App and completing face authentication.
- After obtaining the OTR Number, candidates can log in to the NSP portal, select the applicable scholarship scheme, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit the application before the last date.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
- Applicants must complete One Time Registration (OTR) through the NSP OTR App before applying.
- Aadhaar number and Aadhaar-linked mobile number are mandatory for OTR generation.
- Face Authentication is required to obtain the OTR Number.
- Ensure that all personal, academic, and bank details are entered correctly.
- Upload all required documents in the prescribed format.
- The bank account provided must be active and Aadhaar-seeded for DBT payment.
- Applications submitted with incorrect or incomplete information may be rejected.
- Submit the online application on or before 30 September 2026.
