The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) / Upper Division Clerk (UDC) Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) 2025. Through this departmental examination, eligible government employees can compete for promotion to the SSA/UDC Grade in various Central Government departments and organizations.

SALARY

Candidates selected through the SSC SSA/UDC LDCE Recruitment 2026 will be appointed in Pay Level-4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.

AGE LIMIT

The age limit is not the same for all departments. Candidates must satisfy the age criteria prescribed by their respective cadre/department

• Railway Board Secretariat Clerical Service - 50 Years
• Directorate General, Defence Estates - 45 Years
• Other Part icipating Departments - As per departmental eligibility conditions
• AGE RELAXATION is as per Govt Rules

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates must belong to one of the participating Central Government departments/cadres and fulfill the prescribed service requirements as on the crucial date mentioned in the notification.

CAN ANY STATE GOVT EMPLOYEES APPLY ?

• No, State Government employees cannot apply for this examination.

This is a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) meant only for employees working in the specific Central Government Services/Cadres listed in the notification, such as:

• Central Passport Organisation
• Armed Forces Headquarters Clerical Service
• Railway Board Secretariat Clerical Service
• Central Administrative Tribunal
• Central Vigilance Commission
• Election Commission of India
• Forest Survey of India
• NTRO
• Directorate General, Defence Estates and
• MSME Development Organisation

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process consists of:

Part-I: Computer Based  Examination (200 Marks)

• 100 Questions
• 200 Marks
• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer

Paper-I: Syllabus

• General Awareness
• English Language & Comprehension

Paper-II: Descriptive Examination (100 Marks)

• Noting, Drafting and Office Procedure
• Evaluation of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs)

IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Applicants must upload and submit the following documents:

• Attested copy of the first page of the Service Book.
• Certified service particulars issued by the department.
• Educational qualification certificates (where applicable).
• Disability certificate (for PwBD candidates)
• Other supporting documents as required by SSC.

HOW TO APPLY

• Visit the official SSC website.
• Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already registered on the new SSC portal.
• Fill out the online application form.
• Upload the required documents and signature.
• Submit the application before the closing date.
• Take a printout of the application form.
• Get the application verified and forwarded through the Head of Department/Office to SSC Northern Region within the prescribed timeline.

• For Candidates serving abroad, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Lakshadweep - Last Date for Receipt of Hard Copy- 10 July 2026 (6:00 PM)

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER

• Only employees of the participating Central Government departments/cadres are eligible to apply.
• State Government employees, private sector employees, and fresh candidates are not eligible.
• Candidates must fulfill the prescribed service requirement in their respective feeder grade.
• Applications must be submitted online through the SSC website.
• Candidates must have completed One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC portal before applying.
• Only one application should be submitted. Multiple applications may lead to rejection.
• The printed application form must be forwarded through the Head of Department/Head of Office.
• The examination will be conducted only in Delhi-NCR.
• Candidates must carry their Departmental Identity Card and Admission Certificate during the examination.
• This is a departmental promotion examination, not a direct recruitment examination.
