RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Notification Out – Apply Online for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot Posts
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India have officially released the Centralised Employment Notice (CEN No. 01/2026) for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) posts across various Railway Zones in India. A total of 11,127 vacancies have been announced for eligible candidates.
Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online applications through the official RRB websites from here from 15 May 2026.

SALARY DETAILS
Selected candidates will receive:
- Pay Level: Level-2 of 7th CPC
- Initial Basic Pay: Rs. 19,900/- per month
- Other Railway allowances and benefits as per rules
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following educational qualifications for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) post:
Option A
Applicants should have passed Matriculation/SSLC along with ITI certification from NCVT or SCVT recognized institutes in trades such as:
- Fitter
- Electricial
- Instrument Mechanic
- Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic
- Electronic Mwchanic
- Mechanic(Motir Vehicle)
- Wireman
- Tractor Mechanic
- Armature & Coil Winder
- Mechanic(Diesel)
- Heat Engine
- Machinist
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic
- Mechanic (Radio & TV)
OR
Candidates having Matriculation/SSLC with Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the above-mentioned trades are also eligible.
Option B
Candidates who have passed Matriculation/SSLC along with a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering from a recognized institution can apply.
Applicants possessing a combination of these engineering streams are also eligible.
Additional Note
Candidates holding a Degree in the above-mentioned Engineering disciplines will also be considered eligible instead of a Diploma qualification.
RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will conduct the selection process for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in multiple stages.
Selection Stages
1. First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
- Screening examination
- Objective type Computer Based Test
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer
2. Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
- Candidates shortlisted from CBT-1 will appear in CBT-2
- Marks normalization will be applied
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Applicable for ALP candidates only
- No negative marking in CBAT
4. Document Verification (DV)
- erification of original educational certificates, caste certificates, age proof, and other documents
5. Medical Examination
- Candidates must qualify the prescribed A-1 Medical Standard
- Candidates who fail medical fitness will not get alternative appointments

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
- Candidates can apply to only one RRB.
- Multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
- Candidates must use active mobile number and email ID.
- Only online applications will be accepted.
- Modification in selected RRB will not be allowed later.
- Negative marking will be applicable in CBT-1 and CBT-2.
- Candidates should regularly visit official RRB websites for updates.
- LASIK surgery candidates are not eligible.
- Candidates awaiting final results does not mean eligible.
