Educational Qualification & Eligibility

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University.
• Possess a Diploma in English Stenography.
• Have a minimum shorthand speed of 120 words per minute (WPM).
• Have a minimum computer typing speed of 50 words per minute (WPM).
• Candidates with a Law Degree will be given preference.
• Must possess a valid Employment Exchange Registration Number of Assam.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Private Secretary (Stenographer Grade-I) Recruitment 2026 consists of three stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to be considered for the final merit list.

Stage-I: Stenography Test

• The first stage of the recruitment process is the Stenography Test, carrying 90 marks.

• Candidates must obtain at least 45 marks out of 90 (50%) in the Stenography Test to qualify for the next stage.

Stage-II: Written Examination

• Candidates shortlisted in the ratio of 1:10 based on the Stenography Test will be called for the Written Examination.

Written Examination Pattern

• Duration: 2 Hours
• The Written Examination is qualifying in nature.
• Minimum 32 marks out of 80 (40%) in the English section.
• Minimum 8 marks out of 20 (40%) in the Assamese language section.
• The marks obtained in the Written Examination will not be counted while preparing the final merit list.

Stage-III: Interview / Viva-Voce

• Candidates must obtain at least 12 marks out of 30 (40%) to qualify for the Interview.

Final Merit List

• The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Stenography Test and Interview/Viva-Voce.
