EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & ELIGIBILITY
The educational qualification and selection procedure will be as per the latest UGC Regulations and Government of Assam guidelines applicable for appointment of Assistant Professors in provincialized colleges.
Candidates must possess:
- At least 55% marks (or equivalent grade point scale) at the Master's Degree level in the concerned subject.
- Other eligibility conditions as prescribed by UGC/Government norms.
Relaxation in Marks
- A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided to Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 September 1991.
- A relaxation of 5% Marks may be provided at the Graduate or Master Degree level for SC/ST/PWD candidates for the purpose of eligibility.
Local Language Requirement
Candidates must have adequate knowledge of the local language of Assam.
AGE LIMIT
- The age of the candidate should not exceed 38 years as on 01 January 2026.
- Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government rules: SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 5 years / OBC/MOBC: 3 years

For Candidates from Assam
- Candidates must have adequate knowledge of the local language of Assam.
- Candidates already employed in government, provincialized colleges, universities, or other institutions must apply through the proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent authority.
For Candidates from Outside Assam
- Candidates belonging to states outside Assam are also eligible to apply, provided they fulfill the UGC and Government eligibility criteria.
- Candidates from outside Assam may be required to obtain necessary clearance/approval through the Government of Assam, Higher Education Department, as per existing government rules and orders.
- Selected candidates will be expected to comply with all state government regulations applicable to provincialized colleges in Assam.
Knowledge of the local language of Assam is a mandatory requirement for all applicants.
