Assam Skill University (ASU), in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, New Delhi and the Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC), has launched the Japanese Language Teacher Development Program – Northeast India. The programme aims to develop trained Japanese language teachers and strengthen Japanese language education across the Northeast region.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The programme is designed to prepare a pool of skilled Japanese language educators who can support schools, colleges, universities, training centres and Japan-linked educational initiatives in Northeast India. Participants will receive training in Japanese language communication, teaching methods, lesson planning, learner engagement and cultural understanding.

PROGRAMME OUTCOME
The course is structured to help participants achieve:
- Japanese language proficiency up to CEFR B1 (JLPT N3) level
- Teaching capability up to CEFR A2 (JLPT N4) level
- Basic skills required for Japanese language teaching roles

ACADEMIC SCHEDULED
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00 AM to 3:10 PM
- Approximately 25 hours of engagement per week
CERTIFICATE
Participants who successfully complete the programme and fulfil the required attendance and assessment criteria will receive a joint certificate from the partner institutions.
PERFORMANCE SECURITY DEPOSIT
Selected candidates will be required to submit a refundable performance security amount of ₹60,000, payable in instalments or through approved financial instruments as specified by the programme authorities. Refund conditions will be communicated to selected candidates separately.
Selected candidates will be required to furnish a refundable Performance Security Deposit of ₹60,000.

SELECTION PROCESS
The admission process will be conducted in multiple stages:
- Submission of online application through the IJBC application portal.
- Screening and shortlisting of applications by the Programme Coordination Team.
- Completion of the refundable Performance Security Deposit by selected candidates.
- Registration on the Assam Skill University portal after selection.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
- Only 20 participants are expected to be selected.
- The programme will be conducted in offline mode at Guwahati.
- Regular attendance and satisfactory performance are required.
- Placement is not guaranteed, but guidance and linkage support may be provided based on performance and available opportunities.
- ₹60,000 Performance Security Deposit is required only from selected candidates after the screening and selection process.
- Candidates who are not selected do not need to deposit the ₹60,000 amount at all
