SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 – 1538 Backlog Vacancies

State Bank of India (SBI) has released the SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 notification for 1,538 SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. Eligible Indian citizens can apply online from 07 August 2026 to 27 August 2026. The recruitment is being conducted under the Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC Backlog Vacancies.

Candidates must be graduates in any discipline, while the prescribed age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 01 April 2026, subject to applicable category-wise relaxation. The selection process includes the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable.

For Assam, 39 backlog vacancies are available under the Guwahati Circle, with Assamese, Bengali or Bodo as the specified local language options.

Educational Qualification

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University/ Institute

Other  Eligibility

• Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31 December 2026.
• Candidates who are in the final year/semester of graduation may also apply provisionally. However, if selected, they must produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026.

Special Qualification for Ex-Servicemen

• Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have completed at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces and possess the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding Navy/Air Force certificate are also eligible, provided the certificate is dated on or before 31 December 2026.

Selection Process

• Preliminary Examination
• Main Examination
• Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT), wherever applicable

Phase I – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be conducted online for 100 marks with a total duration of 1 hour.

• There will be 1/4th negative marking for each wrong answer.
• No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual tests or the aggregate.

Phase II – Main Examination

The Main Examination will carry 200 marks and will have a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test

• Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th and are provisionally selected will have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.
• Candidates who produce a Class 10th or 12th certificate showing that they studied the specified local language will not have to take this test.
• For Assam, the specified local languages are Assamese, Bengali and Bodo.

Important Dates

Probation Period

• Selected Junior Associates will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months. During probation, candidates must complete the prescribed e-lessons. The probation period may be extended if the required e-lessons are not completed or performance does not meet the Bank's expectations.

Pre-Examination Training

• SBI will arrange online pre-examination training for eligible candidates who opt for it in the online application.
• Information about the training schedule will be provided through registered email and SMS.
