National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has invited online applications from eligible Indian Nationals for recruitment to various Non-Teaching positions. The recruitment includes Registrar, Librarian, Assistant Librarian, Executive Engineer, Medical Officer and Technical Assistant posts.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1. For Registrar

Educational Qualification

• Master’s degree with at least 55% marks

Experience

• Holding an equivalent post
• Minimum 15 years’ experience as Assistant Professor (AGP ₹7000 or above); OR
• 8 years’ service in AGP ₹8000 or above as Associate Professor with 3 years’ experience in educational administration; OR
• 15 years’ administrative experience, including 8 years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent post.

Desirable Qualifications 

• Qualification in Management, Engineering, or Law.
• Experience in computerized administration, legal, financial, or establishment matters.

2. For Librarian

Educational Qualification

• Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

Experience

Candidates must fulfill any one of the following:

• Holding an equivalent post
• Minimum 10 years of experience as Deputy Librarian
• At least 3 years in a senior-level post in PB-4 of Librarian with Grade Pay of ₹8,700 or equivalent
• Must have experience in modern library services and library computerization.

Desirable Qualification

• Ph.D. or equivalent higher degree in Library Science, Information Science, Documentation, or a related field.

3. For Assistant Liibrarian

Educational Qualification

• Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
• Must qualify NET/SLET/SET

Desirable Qualification

• PG Diploma in Library Automation & Networking, PGDCA
• Candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject will be preferred.

4. For Executive Engineer (Civil)

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with first class or equivalent grade

The following institution employees can also eligible to apply with either :

• 5 years of regular service as Assistant Engineer (SG-II), or
• 2 years of regular service as Assistant Engineer (SG-I).

5. For Medical Officer

Educational Qualification

• MBBS Degree

Desirable Qualification

• MD in General Medicine

6. For Tecnical Assistant

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

• First Class B.E./B.Tech./MCA
• First Class Diploma in Engineering
• First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Science
• Master’s Degree in Science with at least 50% marks

Important Points

• The application fee is non-refundable.
• Fee must be paid through the online payment portal (SB Collect).
• Candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate application form and pay the application fee for each post separately.

Fee Payment Process

Candidates must pay the application fee through the SBI SB Collect online payment portal.

1. Visit the SBI SB Collect portal.
2. Select "Educational Institutions" under the category type.
3. Choose "Assam" as the State.
4. Select "Online Fee Collection Account NIT Silchar" as the institution.
5. Choose "Application Fee for Non-Faculty Recruitment 2026" as the payment category.
6. Fill in the required details and complete the payment.
7. Save the transaction receipt and attach a copy with the hard copy of the application form.

SELECTION PROCESS

The notification states that eligible candidates may be shortlisted and called for the selection process, which may include a test and/or interview, depending on the post and the decision of the Institute. The Institute may also set higher criteria than the minimum eligibility requirements for shortlisting candidates.

DOCUMENT REQUIRED

Candidates must submit the following documents along with the application form:

1. After submitting the online application, candidates must take a printout and sign it.
2. Self-attested copies of educational qualification certificates and mark sheets.
3. Experience certificates (where applicable).
4. Copy of application fee payment receipt/transaction slip.
5. Recent passport-size photograph.
6. Proof of date of birth
7. Caste Certificate for reserve category
8. NOC and Vigilance Clearance Certificate for candidates employed in Government/Semi-Government organizations, PSU, or Autonomous Bodies.

3. Fill the application form carefully
4. After submitting the application, take a printout of the completed application form.
5. Attach the following documents:

• Signed application form
• Self-attested copies of all relevant certificates and documents
• Copy of the fee payment transaction slip
