SALARY DETAILS
Selected candidates will receive salary as per UGC 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

In addition to basic pay, candidates will be entitled to DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of India and UGC rules.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Candidates applying for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor posts must possess the minimum educational qualifications, teaching/research experience, publications, and other eligibility criteria as prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations, 2018, along with the norms of the concerned statutory bodies such as AICTE, NCTE, PCI, and Assam University.
1. For Professor Posts
Candidates must have:
- A Ph.D. degree in the concerned/relevant/allied subject.
- A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at an equivalent level in a recognized institution.
- A significant record of high-quality research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
- Evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates and making substantial academic contributions.
- Fulfilment of all eligibility conditions prescribed by UGC and the concerned regulatory authority.
2. For Associate Professor Posts
Candidates must have:
- A good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant discipline.
- A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic or research institution.
- Research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
- Fulfilment of the academic performance and experience requirements prescribed under UGC Regulations.
3. For Assistant Professor Posts
Candidates must have:
- A Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.
- Must have cleared UGC NET/CSIR NET/SLET/SET, wherever applicable.
- Candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET as per prevailing rules.
- Candidates must satisfy any additional qualification requirements prescribed for the concerned department or discipline.
RELAXATION OF MARKS
A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) is available as per UGC regulations at the Bachelor's and Master's level for candidates belonging to:
- SC Category
- ST Category
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities)
Important Note
Several departments have prescribed specific subject specializations and experience requirements. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to read the official notification carefully and verify the department-wise eligibility criteria before submitting their application.

AGE LIMIT
The maximum age limit for Assistant Professor posts is 38 years as on the prescribed date. Age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories will be provided as per Government of India/Assam Government rules.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection of candidates for the posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor will be conducted by Assam University through a multi-stage recruitment process.
The selection process may include the following stages:
- Scrutiny of Applications – Applications will be screened to verify eligibility, qualifications, experience and other requirements.
- Shortlisting of Candidates – Based on academic credentials, teaching experience, research publications and other achievements, eligible candidates will be shortlisted.
- Written Test (If Required) – The University may conduct a written test for shortlisting candidates if a large number of applications are received.
- Interview/Presentation – Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview before the Selection Committee.
- Document Verification – Original certificates, mark sheets, experience certificates and other supporting documents will be verified.
- Final Selection – The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate's performance in the selection process and fulfillment of all eligibility conditions.
Note: Mere fulfillment of the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee being called for an interview. The University reserves the right to adopt higher shortlisting criteria depending on the number of applications received.
