ABOUT PGET 2026
The Gauhati University Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) 2026 is mandatory for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges. Selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the entrance examination.

- Application Fee for one Course is ₹800
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates must possess the required educational qualification and subject-specific eligibility prescribed for the respective postgraduate programme. As per the official notification:
For Traditional PG Programmes
- Applicants must have completed FYUGP/Graduation in the relevant subject.
- Most programmes require a minimum of 24 credits in the concerned subject with Major, Honours, Minor, or Regular Course, depending on the programme.
- For LL.M, candidates must have an LL.B degree with at least 50% marks (5% relaxation for reserved categories).
- Certain science and professional courses have additional subject-specific requirements.
For Interdisciplinary Programmes
- Eligibility varies according to the programme.
- Candidates must possess the required Bachelor's Degree, B.Tech, M.Sc, MCA, or equivalent qualification in the relevant discipline.
- Some programmes require a minimum percentage of marks or CGPA in the qualifying examination.
Candidates Awaiting Results
- Students who have appeared or are appearing in the final semester examinations in 2026 and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
- Such candidates will be granted provisional admission if selected and must submit their final marksheet within the prescribed time after result declaration.
- Candidates appearing in the final semester examination with backlog papers from earlier semesters are also eligible to appear in PGET 2026.
- However, they must clear the qualifying examination and submit the final marksheet within the stipulated period.
Important Note
- Admission will be cancelled if a candidate fails to satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria during document verification.
- Candidates having a study gap of more than 5 years from the qualifying degree are not eligible for admission and must produce a valid gap certificate if applicable.
PGET EXAM PATTERN
- Total Questions: 100 MCQs
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Marks per Correct Answer: 1
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer

SELECTION PROCESS
- Admission will be based entirely on PGET 2026 scores.
- Candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria during document verification.
- Higher entrance test scores will receive preference.
- Reservation benefits will be provided as per Government of Assam and Gauhati University rules.

- Only 1 Traditional Programme and 2 Interdisciplinary Programmes can be selected.
